As a State of Connecticut employee or retiree, you have access to discounted pet insurance through Nationwide. Pet insurance can help cover the cost of unexpected veterinary expenses and provide financial support when your pet needs care. Flexible coverage options and optional wellness plans are available to fit your needs and budget.
New Benefit as of July 1, 2026. State of Connecticut Program Features:

Eligibility
Available to employees working 17.5 or more hours per week and retirees.
How to Enroll
You can secure your pet’s coverage in two easy ways:
- By Phone: Call 877-738-7874 and mention you are an employee of the State of Connecticut.
- Online: Visit https://partnersolutions.nationwide.com/pet/ctgov and submit information about your pet to receive a quote and enroll.
For employees enrolling July, coverage will be effective September 1, 2026.

- Accident Coverage: Support for unexpected injuries (such as broken bones, animal attacks, getting hit by a car, poisoning, and heatstroke).
- Illness Coverage: Support for when pets get sick (such as diabetes, vomiting, and cancer).
- Wellness Coverage: Support for proactive care when paired with accident & illness coverage (such as vaccinations, microchipping, preventives for fleas and heartworms).
PLan Highlights
- Guaranteed Issuance: New pets are eligible for enrollment regardless of age, breed, and health status (subject to pre-existing condition exclusions).
- Flexible Coverage: Annual deductibles ranging from $100–$500 with 50%, 70%, and 80% reimbursement options.
- Generous Limits: Coverage up to $15,800 annually
- Optional Wellness Coverage: Wellness plans available to help cover routine and preventive care.
- Freedom of Choice: Use any vet, anywhere—no networks or pre-approvals required.
