Anti-Obesity Medications
As of July 1, 2023, medications prescribed for weight loss or weight management are only covered if the prescribing provider is part of the health plan’s Medical Weight Management Programs.
The health plan’s Medical Weight Management Programs include two options: a virtual option (Flyte Health), and a children’s in-person option (Connecticut Children’s). Both options offer ongoing support from Obesity Management Specialists (MDs, PAs, and coaches) who are trained to understand the complex factors contributing to obesity. Annual blood work is required, as well as a review of your lifestyle and medical history. A provider will discuss whether a medication is suitable for your needs. Anti-obesity drug prescriptions are tailored to meet your unique needs, helping you lose weight safely. Registered Dietitians will assist you with meal planning and lifestyle habits to help you maintain a healthy weight.
