Voluntary Low Cost, High-Value Medications
The state health plan partners with TruDataRx, an independent research expert in drug effectiveness, to review the clinical effectiveness and cost of medications covered by the pharmacy benefit plan. When TruDataRx identifies an alternative, a $0 copay option that is proven to be just as effective or more effective than your current medication, you and your prescriber receive a letter describing how to change your medication prescription voluntarily. You should speak to your provider to decide if changing your medication is right for you.
Recommended alternative medicines for the following conditions:
Migraine Pain:
More than 300,000 patients participated in multiple clinical trials to study migraine treatments. A review of this evidence showed that rizatriptan works better than newer medications like Nurtec, Ubrelvy, and Reyvow. It also worked better than generic options like zolmitriptan, sumatriptan tablets, and spray. Because of these results, rizatriptan is now available to members at a $0 copay.
Dry Eye Disease:
Over 19,000 patients took part in clinical trials studying Dry Eye Disease. A review of the results from these trials found that prescription-strength omega-3 supplements help more with dry eye symptoms than Xiidra, Tyrvaya, or Restasis. Because of these findings, members can get prescription omega-3-acid ethyl esters at a $0 copay.
